Research programs in Agronomy Lab is managed by Dr. Kyle Braiser. Kyle completed his PhD in wheat breeding and genetics at Virginia Tech. His main research goal is promoting the cultivation of legumes in California's diverse cropping systems. His research expertise has allowed establishing an extensive research program to study the potential economic and environmental benefits of legume crops to California's agroecosystems. Legumes are key component of sustainable agriculture but they are often missing from many part of California agriculture. Our research focuses on the effects of legumes on soil nitrogen and soil organic matter, potential economic benefits of legumes to our cropping systems, and the identification of well adapted legume plant material.
